peacock 1aThis striking scarf is hand made from the silk of a vintage Japanese kimono.

The pattern is handmade using a stencil technique and depicts peacocks (Kujaku) which are associated with love, good will, nurturing, and a kind heart. It is an emblem of love and associated with the female deity called Kannon in Japan. As well as a symbol of compassion and kind-heartedness, and it is believed to have the power to counteract poison and invoke rain. It also ensures good health and is altogether a good symbol.

The glass beading is contemporary.
